Hazelwood Light Up Night(TM)

Installation of Public Art: "Crossing Beacon"

Hazelwood Local and Hazelwood Initiative have teamed up to deliver a sculptural art piece to the second and third floor exterior walls of 4800 Second Avenue, a historic building at the entrance to the neighborhood's commerical corridor, and former home of a beloved neighborhood restaurant, Josza's Corner. The artwork will welcome passersby to the district, marking the nexus of the corridor and Hazelwood Green. Learn more HERE.
Starting November 27th, follow along as awarded artist and steel fabricator Ben Grubb installs his Gateway art piece: "Crossing Beacon"! Stop by in person, or follow @hazelwoodlocal on Instagram and Facebook for daily updates.
"Crossing Beacon" Craft Walk

Join Hazelwood Local and Hazelwood Initiative for a family friendly celebration of the neighborhood's newest art installation: "Crossing Beacon."
The event will kick off with an introduction by Pittsburgh artist Ben Grubb, followed by a walk down 2nd Avenue with Hazelwood historian JaQuay Edward Carter to view the installation.
We'll then head back to Community Kitchen PGH to enjoy complimentary bites, warm drinks, and crafts.

Veterans Day Tree Planting for Climate
Nov. 11 | Saturday @ 10am-12pm
Join Hazelwood Initiative, Tree Pittsburgh, the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, and the City of Pittsburgh Forestry Department in planting trees to reduce flooding and heat below the tracks.
Lunch will be provided by The Mission Continues.
