Hazelwood Greenway Tree Planting

Apr. 9th | Saturday @ 9am - noon

As part of the ReLeaf Greater Hazelwood grant we are working with Tree Pittsburgh to support the restoration efforts of the greenway by planting more trees that can  help to reduce water run-off and future flood risk as our state is predicted to see more intense rainstorms as the climate changes.

April 12

Research for Equity & Power (REP) Meeting

April 12th | Tuesday @ 5:30pm - 7:30pm

This partnership between Hazelwood Initiative, Center of Life, the Homewood Children's Village, and the University of Pittsburgh's School of Social Work aims to facilitate community conversations around equitable development and civic engagement. Attendees will receive dinner and a $20 stipend for each meeting. Youth, ages 13-17, are especially encouraged to attend! Meetings are IN PERSON every Tuesday in March and April, 5:30pm-7:30pm, at Center of Life: 161 Hazelwood Ave. The space is fully accessible and ASL interpretation is provided.

April 23

Earth Day Celebration

Apr. 23rd | Saturday @ 9am - 6pm

We will host the Greater Hazelwood Earth Day celebration--and also celebrate our Climate Cup Challenge award! 

 

The day will begin at 10am with flower planting at the Bob Vavro Garden (corner of Second Ave. and Johnston Ave.) followed by live bands, food, and plant giveaways in the old S&R Mart across from Rite Aid.

Join us for our Monthly Community Meeting to get the latest news on proposed developments as well as resources to help you stay in your home comfortably and protect your health.
