What is your connection to the neighborhood?

I am a resident and business owner in Hazelwood.

Where are you from and what brought you to Hazelwood? 
I'm from Joplin, Missouri. I moved to Hazelwood 10 years ago to be closer to my partner.

 

What are the TOP TWO most important parts of our mission that you are concerned about? 

Affordable rental housing and affordable homeownership

Why are the above issues important to you? 

Having been both a renter and a homeowner in Hazelwood, over the last 10 years, I have encountered some of the unique opportunities and frustrations presented to both groups. I feel a draw towards the plight of renters and the inequity that exists daily for them. I want to help ensure Hazelwood remains accessible and just for all who need it. 

 

How does your background provide you with unique skills or insight to help tackle these issues as a board member? 

My background has been in non-profit community work and youth education. I have also been a renter, homeowner and small business owner in Hazelwood. 

 

What do you love about Hazelwood?

The people, hands down!
