Bridget Jones-Canedy brings longstanding community development leadership, finance experience to the role of Operations Manager

Hazelwood Initiative Inc. has welcomed Bridget Jones-Canedy as operations manager, a role that draws on her extensive background in nonprofit operations, real estate finance and community-based development to support Hazelwood Initiative Inc.’s mission and long-term objectives.
As operations manager, Ms. Jones-Canedy oversees core organizational functions, including operational planning, implementing, policy development and financial management support. Her role is designed to strengthen internal capacity while ensuring the organization remains accountable to its mission, board, funders, and — most importantly — the Hazelwood community.
Ms. Jones-Canedy’s professional career spans more than 30 years leading Tresbri Development Corporation, where she managed daily operations and provided technical assistance to nonprofits, municipalities and community development organizations. Her work has consistently focused on helping distressed and transitioning neighborhoods leverage their strengths while navigating complex financial, regulatory and development environments.
Her connection to Hazelwood reflects both professional engagement and personal conviction. Ms. Jones-Canedy cites the neighborhood’s resilience, strong faith institutions, youth-focused programming and community pride as defining characteristics that position Hazelwood for sustainable growth.
“Hazelwood has shown a remarkable ability to adapt and reinvest while maintaining its sense of place,” Ms. Jones-Canedy said. “My role is to support systems and operations that help that progress continue in a way that benefits residents.”
Ms. Jones-Canedy’s background includes recognition as a technical assistance provider for the Urban Redevelopment Authority of the City of Pittsburgh and prior work associated with community development entity Initiative Inc.s recognized by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. She brings deep experience in financial stewardship, grant compliance and governance coordination.
She earned her degree in Finance and Accounting from Duquesne University and holds Pennsylvania licenses as a real estate broker and state certified general appraiser.
Ms. Jones-Canedy brings a disciplined operational approach rooted in respect for community assets, transparency and long-term stewardship-principles that align closely with Hazelwood Initiative Inc.’s vision for inclusive neighborhood growth.
Through her new role, Jones-Canedy will work closely with Hazelwood Initiative Inc. leadership, board members, partners and residents to ensure operational excellence supports community-driven development outcomes.
“I’m prepared to put my education, experience and background to work in support of the executive director, staff, board of directors and the community at large,” Ms. Jones-Canedy said. “Hazelwood’s resilience and strong community identity make it a place where thoughtful, well-governed development truly matters.”
