Weekly summer food truck event brings Greenfielders together all year | The Homepage
On the overcast evening of May 20, a huge block party took over a section of McCaslin Street behind Magee Rec Center. The section is known by locals as “flat McCaslin.” About 300 people of all ages came out to mingle and line up for dinner and dessert at seven different food trucks. These included Chi Pop’s Fried Chicken, El Rincón Oaxaqueño, Kilimanjaro Flavour and Page’s Dairy Mart’s brand-new ice cream truck putting in one of its first appearances.

Public transit ‘refresh’ a tweak, not an overhaul | The Homepage
Pittsburgh Regional Transit has proposed a lite version of the complete overhaul it proposed in 2024. The “Bus Line Refresh” proposes boosting service to popular routes and adding connections between Allegheny County communities. This update would cut 13 routes but add nine new ones. The transit authority was previously known as Port Authority Transit and is now often called PRT.

A new view into Hazelwood Green | The Homepage
If you’ve traveled along Second Avenue recently, you may have noticed major changes on Hazelwood Green, across from the Saline/Greenfield/Irvine/Second Avenue intersection and railroad trestle. The imposing wall between Second Avenue and Hazelwood Green is gone. Instead, you can see the beginnings of two paths crisscrossing each other in a grassy field. A bench is visible closer to the river.
The sight made me curious enough to ask around to get the scoop.

Four Mile Run residents talk next steps on defunded stormwater project | The Homepage
Residents of The Run and community partners met at Zano’s Pub House on June 9 to discuss next steps for addressing ongoing flooding problems in the neighborhood. The meeting was called because Pittsburgh Water recently announced that they were pausing the long-awaited flood mitigation project slated to begin in 2025. Anne Quinn, a Greenfield resident who leads the Mon Water Project, a water advocacy nonprofit, led the June 9 meeting.
