The Feb. 10 Greater Hazelwood monthly hybrid community meeting saw a robust turnout. Neighbors gathered to hear about the next housing development coming to Hazelwood Green and events planned on the plaza this year. Remember the bus shelters with a migratory theme? They are getting closer to landing. But first, attendees heard about housing study findings that may shape affordable housing development in the neighborhood for years to come.

Donating an organ or tissue is the ultimate gift. One organ and tissue donor can save or enhance up to 75 lives. But throughout Allegheny County, a lot of families say “no” when a loved one has died and could become an organ donor. Feb. 14 is National Donor Day. It is a day to promote awareness about all types of organ and tissue donation. In the U.S., more than 100,000 people are waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant.

Hazelwood Initiative Inc. has welcomed Bridget Jones-Canedy as operations manager, a role that draws on her extensive background in nonprofit operations, real estate finance and community-based development to support Hazelwood Initiative Inc.’s mission and long-term objectives.
